THE PASSION I ONCE KNEW

Last night at ENCOUNTER, we had Christine Caine come down from Hillsong and speak to us about what it means to be PASSIONATE all over again. What an apt moment for me to hear what she had to say. A god-moment for me? For sure.

Something she said, "when you feel that doing church, doing ministry becomes an obligation, you've lost the passion for it".

Reflecting back, i realised how my priorities have changed and my attitude towards certain aspects of my life have shifted. Not saying that this is a bad thing....its just different. But one thing is certain, and i'm not proud to say: i think i may have lost the passion. And i'm not trying to find an excuse or a reason to justify it.

LESSON LEARNT: As a young teenager, i've always been so fired up for God and his purpose for my life. I've been to every conference, every evangelistic meeting and have been so involved in the exciting things God has not only for me but for his people. And really, there is nothing that could take me away from doing his work. But i've came to realise that as you enter into young adult life, things start to change. As more responsibilities and commitments pile up (ie. uni, trying to find a job, relationships), a shift in priorities happens and in a way there are more 'reasons' not to do God's work. And somehow or rather, we choose to settle and not continue to do the race of life. Suddenly doing church becomes an obligation. ANd we wonder how come nothing exciting is happening in my christian life, how come nothing explosive is happening to my ministry?

Seriously, if we want to see the church expanding, if we want to see his people radically changed, if we want to see our ministry exploding and if we want to see our life being a true witness to the lost generation, we've got to learn to recognise that PASSION and soak in it for the long hols. Its a choice we have to make. I can choose to recognise that i've lost that passion and not do anything about and choose to settle. Or i can recognise it and actively choose to change.

God bless

Cheryl

WHAT REALITY DOES YOUR LIFE REFLECT?

What reality does your life reflect? That was the question that caught my attention when i was thinking of what had happened, has been happening and could have happened in the the last month or so. That picture above...that's my life at the moment. A huge tidal wave. A few ups and downs but overall, life is still full of colour and excitement and a few randomness in between. Am i complaining...no not really. Too be honest, i'm actually enjoying it.

I LUV JAY CHOU.....NOT

gCan't believe the amount of fun i had last nite with my badminton friends. Awesome bunch of people to hangout with and do stupid stuff, like sing heaps n heaps of Jay Chou songs from the car to the Karaoke lounge. I can't believe i can sing Jay CHou songs. Noooo......I don't wana be a Jay CHou Fan...........

So what I've learnt from last nite......

1. If you wana sing Jay Chou songs....call the Jay Chou Fan club. They will not only sing but be willing back-up dancers. Hahahah....they also get the crowd to join along in the waving of arms. How interactive is that....

2. Boyz need to learn how to sing Jay Chou songs if you are going to come out wif us for another Karaoke session. Or else u will be bored ass....Good job Gary for doing good J.C impersonation and Tin for singing the chorus of "qian li zhi wai" well even though you didn't noe wat u were singing n u r a viet who doesn't have a clue abt mando. Hahaha.....funny ass....Wing, you've got to pull up your socks mate, Tin's catching up...learn to sing J.C songs.

Thanks guys for a cool nite. Hopefully we'll have more great moments to share before i leave if i do leave. Peace (3 fingers up).

God bless,Cheryl

MIXED EMOTIONS

Looking back at what has been
It is time to look from within
What has been four long years
Seems to be closing in on me
Reflecting on all the great blessings
counting all that i may be missing
Thanking God for those great memories
Praying hard for more to keep
Just when things seem to be going smoothly
Stop, red light, change direction, what now?
Facing a crossroad, too many options
all of which seems right if i make them be
My feelings, their feelings
which one first?
My desire, their desire
whose to fill?
